Event Chairs Sees Women's Victory in Vulnerability

Real Images announces Heather Davis and Cassandra Ramey-Tucker as event chairs for the 7th Annual Phenomenal Women Luncheon. The luncheon’s theme, Victory in Vulnerability, celebrates honorees Amari Briggs and Dr. Kim Leverett, who will both be presented with the Phenomenal Woman Award at the event.

“The theme is one in which I relate to on many levels,” says Davis. “We as women are often coached from a young age to push and achieve scholastically and in our careers, and while that is very important, that focus alone can lead us to put up a facade of strength to appear that we ‘have it all together’, and that doing it all comes easily. Victory in Vulnerability encourages us to let go of those facades and acknowledge the variety of struggles we often face, opening an opportunity for a healthy and real strength and self-empowerment that is rooted in wellness, connection and self-confidence.”

Ramey-Tucker sees a connection between Real Images’ pillars and the luncheon that gives women and girls a sense of purpose and determination. “The Seven Power Pillars nurtures and encourages us to examine ourselves, " she says. “Victory in Vulnerability exercises our ability to accept personal limitations, acknowledging it’s ok to not be perfect, and to seek support from others in deep and meaningful relationships.”

The annual event also announces the year’s recipient of the MIRROR Award. The award is presented to a young girl who demonstrates a true passion in the areas of the arts, business, or education. This is the third year the organization can present two awards through dedicated sponsors, according to founder and executive director Michelle B. Barnes. “I am thrilled that we can continue to present two awards”, says Barnes. “Our awards’ sponsors [First Security Bank and Women’s Own Worth] are so generous in their investment of our girls. They are more than partners; they are a part of the Real Images family.”

The keynote address will be given by Shandrea Murphy-Washington with a special musical performance from the local duo, A+B to open the event. The event emcee is Elicia Dover.

Real Images was founded in 2014. The organization’s mission is to ensure that young girls and women are empowered and educated to become the healthiest versions of themselves through programs, scholarships, and service. Real Images provides networking events and self-care workshops for women, and curriculum-led self-image workshops for young girls.

The Phenomenal Women Luncheon will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023 beginning at 11:30 am at Heifer Village Pavilion. Tickets may be purchased at www.realimages.org/luncheon.
